NINTH BLOG ENTRY : SUGGESTIONS ON HOW TO IMPROVE AGRICULTURE


Provision of a system of tropical agricultural research stations especially, agricultural extension workers and soil experts to assist local farmers. This is absolutely essential for the success of agricultural reform. If farmers don’t know or understand the methods, nothing can be improved. Retention of trees as crops to protect water and soil resources. In southern Malaysia, 60% of the forested area has been kept in forest, while the other lands are used for agricultural purposes (Spears, 1988). How much of this land will remain protected with increasing demand for palm oil and other products is questionable.


AGRICULTURE EXTENSIFICATION


Agricultural extensification is one way to increase agricultural production by expanding the land. This can be done by opening the forest area, utilizing the area around the swamp, opening bushes, and opening up unused agricultural land. Not only that, but agricultural extensification can also be done by opening tidal rice fields.


AGRICULTURE MECHANIZATION


Next is by using modern agricultural machinery. Agricultural mechanization is widely used outside Java in areas with large farmland. Using this machine can also help raise more agricultural because the use of agricultural machinery can ease the burden on humans and animals because humans and animals is not a major land power.


AGRICULTURE RECOVERY

We could also improve agriculture is by doing agricultural recovery. This effort can be done by fixing the land that is no longer production to become a productive land. This can be done by replacing plants that can no longer produce. Step by step to do an agriculture recovery is:

  • Expand, improve and maintain widespread irrigation networks
  • Enhanced the system of food agriculture production through the implementation of various packages of programs that started with the Guidance program (Bimas) in 1970. Then followed by Mass intensification program (Inmas), Special Intensification (Insus) and Supra Insus aimed at increasing food production on an ongoing basis.
  • building steel mills and insecticides and pesticides factory implemented to support the process of agricultural production.

A  genetically modified organism  " GMO"   is any organism whose genetic material has been altered using genetic engineering techniques is a " G enetically Engineered  Organism"   .
